Handcrafted from a century‑old, reclaimed barn beam, the Heritage Flight Block is a sculptural whiskey tasting tray built for those who appreciate ritual, craftsmanship, and the weight of real wood. Each block is shaped, burnished, and finished by hand, revealing the deep grain, weathered character, and lived‑in history that only old structural timber can carry. Designed for whiskey, bourbon, tequila, or craft spirit flights, this piece brings a warm, masculine presence to any bar setup.
The Heritage Flight Block is part of my ongoing effort to preserve the soul of old American barn beams and turn them into heirloom‑grade bar pieces. Every block begins as a solid section of reclaimed structural timber — dense, aged, and full of the quiet scars of its past life. I hand‑burnish the edges to warm the transitions, then work pure tung oil deep into the grain to bring out the natural color shifts, saw marks, and century‑old patina.
Four recessed pockets are cut into the top surface, each sized for standard shot glasses. The layout is intentional and balanced, giving the block a sculptural presence whether it’s in use or sitting on the bar between pours.
This is not a mass‑produced flight board. It’s a piece of reclaimed history — thick, weighty, and built to last. No two blocks are ever the same, and that’s exactly the point.

RPT Designs started long before this shop ever existed.
When I was young, I spent countless hours in my grandfather’s workshop, helping him build wooden pieces he’d later sell at local craft shows. That small garage shop is where I first learned patience, craftsmanship, and the pride that comes from creating something with your own hands.
Today, that same 2½‑car garage workshop in Michigan’s Thumb area is where RPT Designs continues that tradition. It’s not a production facility — it’s a personal workspace where every piece is made slowly, intentionally, and by hand, just like the ones I built with my grandfather.
The name RPT represents the first initials of myself and my two sons. My goal isn’t just to build products — it’s to pass down the same knowledge and appreciation for craftsmanship that my grandfather passed down to me.
Each piece is created in small batches using quality hardwoods, full‑grain leather, and hand‑finished details. I focus on items designed for whiskey lovers, home bars, and collectors who appreciate pieces that feel both rugged and refined.
