After retiring from teaching, then owning an Inn and Gift Shop, I learned how to make jewelry, the metal smithing kind. I fell for the soldering, riveting, forming, cutting and finishing stones, you name it, I am still learning new skills. There is something about the transforming of sheet and wire metal into a lovely, unique backdrop for a special stone. Like, who doesn’t like rocks, pretty ones?
My local Lapidary Club has a clubhouse where I can use specialized tools to finish stones. We also have a great Gem and Mineral Show with vendors all over the world, even Australia! You will see some of his Boulder Opals I love so much.
